7 year friendship
So it all stared 7 years ago…
A friend of mine sent me a link of a car his mate was selling, he was always pushing me to get a VW and he had seen this one was up my street, well after a quick phone call I went to view it, it needed work but hey I was excited, as I drove down the snow covered road to look at it, I knew I had to have it.
After a discussion with my mother and trying to convince her a 2.0l 16v engine wasn’t fast (I was driving a 206 1.4 diesel) I won and by the Friday night I went to pick her up, I will tell you that car, plus snow I thought I was insane! The joys!
Moving on I had seen a vento front end which I had to have, luckily my local scrappy had one in and the same colour! The luck! From there I got more into the mk3 golf adding new bits replacing the sills, new Wheel, lights you name it.
It eventually needed more work so I took it off the road, unfortunately it sat there for a year before I had the chance to work on it even at that it wasn’t fully how I wanted it but she looked good! She certainly drew attention, especially with the neon, a bold move 3 years ago! Before it became popular again.
And then a blue colour concept came along, originally wanted the seats but I ended up keeping it I will save that for another post.
Oh yeah more importantly I got my dream car but sacrifices had to be made and unfortunately it was the 16v turn to be parked up, I had started to restore her once more but time is tight and I think i have found her next home with a good friend who I know will look after her ♥
It has surprised me how much I loved this car and how badly addiction has set in as I now have a dream mk3 yellow colour concept I am fully restoring, but this blue valver has been the best car I have owned. Hoprfuly my pictures will help you see the different stages. Please if you want to know more please give me a shout on Instagram @mk3spooner
